Affiliate Marketing Internet Statistics

Just a quick perusal of affiliate marketing internet statistics and you realize that, not only are we on the cusp of something that is about to explode into billions of dollars, but by becoming affiliate marketers now we’ve made a wise decision.

The Statistics Tell the Story

Internet advertising grew by 27% in 2007 to a record $25.5 billion, and the total amount of advertising expected to be spent by merchants/vendors in 2011 is projected to exceed $81 billion. Imagine what part of that will be paid to affiliate marketing partners!

Unlike the Dot Com bubble bust of 2001, there are no projected downturns to online marketing or a decrease in advertising spends. Industry insiders are keying in on internet affiliate marketing; statistics show that even with a possible looming US and global recession, companies will scale back in other traditional advertising campaigns (print, TV, direct mail) and likely not touch online advertising spending.

For the consumer, the internet also offers a win-win situation: they can compare prices on a variety of brands, and they find easily accessible, in-depth information on a product that they can’t get from a 30-second TV or radio spot.

Those numbers listed above for affiliate marketing internet statistics of course include all advertising spends but the share of affiliate revenue continues to climb along with it. The bulk of the revenue sharing is in the CPS or cost per salecompensation method (more than 80%), while CPA (cost per action) such as leads and finder’s fees are 19%. The remaining 1% is the area of CPC (cost per click) but click fraud continues to make this method less appealing to advertisers.

It Can’t be All that Rosy for Everyone

Here’s the bad news: according to affiliate marketing internet statistics, almost 95% of affiliates don’t make any real money at it. Another 3% to 4% make a fairly good income, and the remaining 1% represents the super-affiliates who are bringing in five and six figure monthly incomes.

62% of SBI! Sites Appear in the Top 3%. Profit from It!

But here’s the good news about these dismal internet affiliate marketing statistics: you don’t have to be among those 95% who are losers. They are doing it wrong and have never done any research on affiliate marketing strategies, they don’t know how to use keyword research tools, they don’t target niche areas, and many of the other strategies and techniques available to them. But best of all -- they give up easily! What could be better than to have your competition quit? For you, that means no competition.

How Large Can the Internet Get?

In the past ten years, projections about things like how much advertisers will spend online and how it will affect affiliate marketing internet statistics have been difficult to determine, but there is one truth: actual dollar amounts have smashed estimates. This is an exciting time to be an affiliate partner/publisher and I encourage you to pursue your niche in this growing field.
