Online Affiliate Marketing Tips: Web 2.0 Traffic Generation

One of the new ways for generating online affiliate marketing traffic to your website is to Social Bookmark. And the best way to do that is to join the Squidoo phenomenon and build a free page to tell the world about your affiliate products.

Squidoo is a community sharing site that offers mini portals on absolutely any subject you can dream up. You create a single webpage called a lens. It’s easy to build a lens promoting your online affiliate marketing business — just click on the category modules or blocks in the page template and enter a headline, a description, and some text. You can add and delete the pre-titled modules, and reorder them on your page using a simple click and drag.

There’s no limit to the number of lenses you can build. You can put up a lens in about 5 minutes. Squiddylicious!

But the real reason you may want to start a free Squidoo lens is for the opportunity to expand your online affiliate marketing business by driving new traffic to your websites or by directing customers to your referral links.

Tips for Squidoo

We’d like to offer a few basic tips for you to ponder before you start a lens:

#1 - Do remember to “put the horse before the cart.” Before you build the lens page, do the keyword research first. Make sure your phrases are in demand before you spend time writing the articles. Chose one main keyword, and another 3 or 4 other phrases that get at least 100 searches a day but aren’t too competitive.

#2 - Your writing must be original and offer quality content. Videos, news items, articles, reviews and everything you can think of can be put on the lens. Do your best work and add your online affiliate marketing referral link code in the body of the text or at the end.

#3 - Add the tags (relevant keywords) and Squidoo automatically puts links to your lens from the tag pages on their site. That alone increases the PageRank to your lens without you having to do much more than that!

#4 - Squidoo encourages you to add modules for guestbooks, feedback, and polls — anything to keep the visitor on your lens and get people to vote for your site as a favorite. The goal is interaction which is the genius of Web 2.0. This interaction also serves to increase your PageRank with Squidoo and push your lens higher in the search engine results.

#5 - Don’t forget this is for online affiliate marketing and your goal is to incorporate dynamic Web 2.0 to increase traffic. Squidoo already has the YouTube videos modules linked up; all you need to do is make changes to bring in videos to reflect your content. You can learn more about videos on Squidoo and what it can do for you by reading SocialMarketing101.

#6 - Use an RSS feed to display products on your page or bring in your own ebay or Amazon widget code. To do this you choose the “writing module”, write a headline and a brief description, and paste in the URL in the text box. Click “publish” and you’re done.

#7 - Squidoo monetizes all lenses by placing Adsense ads on them. If the ads on your lens are clicked on, Squidoo shares half of the revenue with you. This is in addition to your affiliate marketing referral links on your lens which hopefully will be generating income.

Yes, you can use Squidoo to build a page about your online affiliate marketing business and hopefully some of those visitors to that page will come over to your website. But there is a better way to capitalize on Web 2.0. Instead of you adding content to Squidoo, why not have your visitors add content to your own site? Check out the SBI Site Builder which includes a FREE module that will allow your site’s visitors to do just that.

Testimonials

My mom became interested in SBI! about a year after I started my first site. Since then she's been working on her own sites which are now bringing in a nice monthly income for her. Many people ask me about how I earn a living. They're all curious... lots of questions and a sparkle in their eye as they think about how they could do it too... and they could! In truth though, most of them don't. So seeing my mom go ahead and create her own success is incredible!"

"When you first start, you think... "Ok, maybe I will make some extra money". I never really thought that SBI! would help me "Live my life like I mean to live it"."

"You may not realize it (although I suspect you do), but Site Build It! is much more than "the only all-in-one site-building, site-hosting, and site-marketing product" (I think that's what your site says!). It's actually a "9-to-5 life liberator"."

"This affiliate marketing case study describes how a novice working part-time used Site Build It! to create an affiliate web site that achieved $49,000 in sales in just over a year. His second site has now achieved more than $308,000 in sales for one merchant. We earn a commission on that. He spends nothing on advertising."

"I sat at my PC and just typed and typed. I knew absolutely nothing about the internet, websites, HTML, or anything... I just typed. The great thing about SBI is that they do all of the hard (and necessary) work for me. That frees up my time to do what I do best and love the most... write, teach, play, and learn."

"My puny little hand-built, local-dentist Web site broke the Alexa 100,000 barrier today and none of this would have been possible if it weren't for the power and effectiveness of the SBI process. (OK - I did put in a little elbow grease)"
